Unit 6:
Printmaking Culture
Section 1: Inquiry Question and Concept Exploration
Inquiry Statement: How can printmaking be used to explore and express aspects of my culture in a visually powerful way?

Printmaking's bold contrast and repeating marks make it a powerful medium for expressing cultural identity. As someone with Peruvian roots, I can draw on the geometric patterns of Andean textiles or the symbolism of figures to create imagery that carries real cultural weight. The physical act of carving and removing material to reveal a mark is able to mirror how culture itself is shaped: through what is kept and what is left behind. By embedding these symbols into a print, I can make something visually striking that also tells a story only I can tell. (95 Words)
